Artist Residency Program 2025
With over 20 years of experience in exploring and supporting upcoming artist in an early stage , the residency at Wehrmuehle offers a collaborative, immersive environment for both established and up-and-coming talents.
Residents receive studio space, private accommodation, 24/7 access to material workshops, and Private accommodation enabling them to develop their work and advance their careers.
The application process is project-based and reviewed by leading figures.

Museum Exhibition Opportunity
Chance to be selected to showcase final projects in a group exhibition at the museum or in one of Berlin's offsite galleries for high exposure. Includes studio presentations and open studio events alongside taking part in museum activities.

Eligibility and Program Details
The program is open to emerging, mid-career, and established artists, curators, and art writers/critics. Participants must be at least 18 years old and proficient in English (minimum B2 level), as the program is conducted entirely in English.
Support for International Participants
Wehrmühle Museum is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment, especially for international guests. Upon application and registration, participants receive a comprehensive list of housing options to assist with accommodation.
Accommodation
Most residents stay in serviced apartments located just 1 km (a 15-minute walk) from Wehrmühle Museum, within a charming neighborhood near the Weißer See lake. These accommodations offer excellent public transport links, providing easy access to Alexanderplatz and the city center within 15 minutes.
Certification
Participants completing the residency will receive a certificate from Wehrmühle Museum.

The price per month ranges from €1800 to €2200, depending on the needs, studio size, type of accommodation, and other factors.
This price includes accommodation, the program, and access to a workspace. -

As part of the subprogram, there are professional sharing circles, studio visits, lectures by curators and artists from around the world, and joint gallery visits.

The Residency Space
Common spaces include shared, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom facilities, and a library.
Spacious private garden with an outdoor work area (rain shelter available in summer).
Free Wi-Fi throughout the residency.
Access to a range of tools and bicycles for borrowing.
Accommodation
The apartments are fully equipped with a writing desk, bed, private shower, and toilet. Some apartments include a balcony or garden.
Pets are welcome, and you may bring a partner or family member with prior arrangement and a small additional fee.Studios
Studios are equipped for work in wood, concrete, ceramics (including a ceramic kiln), and offer spaces for photography, video, and media artists. There are areas suitable for photo shoots and installation, as well as spaces for movement and performance artists. Studios are also equipped for painters and lighter work.

Furnished accommodations are provided in the form of mini apartments, each featuring a private bathroom. Residents will share a kitchen and access common spaces, including a library. Each room includes a desk, a large window that offers a view of the forest, and a comfortable double bed.
For added convenience, groceries and other basic necessities are available nearby. -

Open to artists worldwide across all disciplines.
(including visual arts, performance, installation, sound, video art, as well as researchers, art book writers, and curators)

We understand that funding might be a barrier for many artists.
There are various Organizations offers support for successful applicants in securing external grants.
The residency provides an invitation letter and is available for consultation on available funding opportunities through external bodies.
Artists are responsible for travel and personal expenses, including health insurance. -
In addition to the curated group exhibition, residents are encouraged to present their work during and after their residency ; These opportunities foster meaningful engagement with the local community, museum visitors, and fellow artists.
While participation in the program does not guarantee an exhibition offer, works selected by the museum's curators will be considered for display. The museum's management will provide support and facilitate relevant connections.
Additionally, there will be further exhibition opportunities at the museum's Offsite locations, offering a strong potential for inclusion.
